CENTRAL LIBRARY

The library is housed on the third floor of the academic building of AIMS, Mohali. The floor is planned well to begin with the library services and is suffice to cater to the needs of its users. The library is well lighted, fully air- conditioned and has a congenial atmosphere, with easy approach by the users, well equipped with surveillance system and has been aesthetically designed to accommodate maximum readers. Its calm and serene ambience is well suited for studying. The library has an IT cell with 25 computers with internet facility and networking for users to have access to e-resources.

CENTRAL Library started its initial activities, more than a year before the actual starting of the MBBS session (Batch 2021-2022) in February 2022 at the third floor of the academic building. It has books (nearly 3000), journals and reading space for both students and faculty.

The library has a separate reading facility for faculty and for holding meetings of library committee members. An Interactive panel is installed in the faculty room for teachers to deliver online lectures if required and to hold online meetings for students or faculty.

There are mainly two sections for smooth running of the library and as a facility for the students to avail from time to time. Circulation section helps the readers to get books issued, get their membership cards made, queries to be sorted and so on. The other section is a Technical Section and Acquisition Section where books and journals are received and further processed to be made available for reading to its faculty, residents and students. There is enough stacking space to arrange books for use and adopt OPEN ACCESS. The library has pigeon holes to display latest subscribed journals and make use of the same.

Library Timings

Library remains open from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. throughout the year except for gazetted holidays. The reading room is opened 24 X 7 for the medical students.

Who can be a member?

All current AIMS faculty, doctors, research scholars, professionals and permanent staff are eligible to become regular members of the library. These members can have access to all the facilities of the library.

Resident doctors, PCMS doctors are eligible for temporary membership of library for reading purposes with due permission from the Director Principal of the college.

News Paper Stands

The newspaper section is meant to offer readers with breaking the monotony of regular study and utilize their leisure time with reading of newspapers. This offers them inspiration, entertainment and latest information. Newspapers play an active and crucial role in providing and updating every day information nationally and globally. These are quite beneficial to readers since they provide them with information quickly and efficiently. The names of the newspapers being subscribed by the library at present are ‘The Hindu’(English), ‘Dainik Bhaskar’ (Hindi) and ‘Ajit’ (Punjabi).
