DEPARTMENT OF FORENSIC MEDICINE

The department of Forensic Medicine is involved in conducting autopsies and clinical medicolegal cases. Opinions of Medicolegal cases are declared in consultation with departmental faculty. Clinical medicolegal cases include injury report, natural & unnatural sexual assaults, examination for impotence, alcohol estimation, DNA sample collection in paternity/maternity suits, cross matching etc.

Future Planning-

Clinical Forensic Medicine Unit for examination of clinical Medicolegal Cases in the Emergency wing of the hospital along with a computerized reporting room, Specimen Storage Room, Duty Doctor room.

Modernized Autopsy complex

Establishment of Embalming Service Centre for Medicolegal cases

Organ retrieval in collaboration with Organ Retrieval Banking Organization e. g. cornea donation after consent from MLC cases, bone bank etc.

Establishment of E-Court Video conferencing room for evidence of doctors in courtroom across the state. Generation of ID on the name of college on ‘VIDYO’ app under Hon’ble Punjab & Haryana High Court.
